J’Star finishes strong to claim 3rd

Well that was one that got away today with J’Star, little slow out rushed to take her spot 5th then had to ease severely and threw her head about and quickly lost her spot, 2 nd last at the turn and really motored home last 200m. No doubt she should have won clearly.
That’s racing they say…

J’Star Wins at Geelong!

Well Congratulations and it’s so good to get 2 wins in a row it now make’s her record look ok with her 6 start for 2 wins. She I definitely getting more tractable with extra racing and I do think Dan Moor is a real plus as she is a difficult filly to ride/handle, but Dan seems to really gel with her.

Dan said from the gate he wanted to be positive and she jumped much better so I just let her roll, she was pressured but to her credit when I asked her to sprint she found 2 lengths when it mattered.

Leon was chuffed as training her has its challenges ,but to get wins at her last 2 starts give us good satisfaction that we are on the right path. As long as she pulls up well we may look at a metro run next, but will look at all options and let you know ASAP

Well done team and go J’star…

Triple Gold Video Update

Triple Gold worked nicely at Caulfield this morning. Jumping rider Tom Ryan rode him, he does most of the work on Triple Gold, strong rider who gets over the horse’s neck and settles him well in his gallops.

The horse will now trial at Cranbourne next Monday in trial 16 over 1100m. It will be a good fitness exercise trial for him, staying horse who will relish the longer races.

J’Star Wins at Bairnsdale

J’ Star you beauty …………… Congrats to all …….

Finally she nearly did everything right and we saw the effects of that with an impressive win. Dan said she was a tad tardy out of the gates ,but settled reasonably well off a good speed ,the when he asked he she really let down the way we hoped she would. Dan said the win was actually pretty soft in the end and she should win better races going forward with more improvement.

Leon was all smiles as we had endured a bit of heartache with her because she isn’t the easiest filly to train ,but we saw a glimpse of her raw talent today. We won’t get too carried away as it was a fairly weak field but hopefully gain some confidence to set her up for some more joy.

As long as she pulls up well we will look for a race  in the next fortnight and hopefully go back to back !

Audio Report from Brad Spicer:

Introducing Sebring x Rosie’s Choice Colt

Nice colt from the Sydney Easter Sale purchased by Lee Freedman: By Sebring from Rosie’s Reward very flashy chestnut with white markings, we have footage and photos for you from the sales, and will send out more as he is broken in. Lee liked him on type and ignored the pedigree which is ok, he thought he would have to go higher but got the colt for 75K, the colt is in the next batch to be broken-in at Markdel.

Sebring was a top class two-year-old  that won five of his six race starts. After winning the AJC Breeders Plate in his spring debut, he had wins in the Golden Slipper and AJC Sires Produce Stakes and second place, defeated by a nose, in the AJC Champagne Stakes.

Rosie’s Reward is a bay mare sired by Reset out of Star of Pyrmont, foaled on the 29th September 2006 in Australia. Trained by Adam Duggan, Rosie’s Reward’s career racing results are 22 starts, 7 wins, 2 seconds, 1 third for $228,280 in prize money.

He will be trained by Lee & Anthony Freedman.  We hope he will make another exciting addition to our syndicates!

Introducing TRIPLE GOLD

This guy is a 4 year old by Teofilo, a star European two year old, Group One winner in the UK and Ireland, 5 starts 5 wins, son of the legend Galileo from a Danehill mare. He retired through injury and has already sired the Irish Derby winner, Group one winners in France and the Irish St. Leger winner. He is a Darley stallion who shuttles from Ireland to the Hunter Valley in Australia he is having great success at stud, he is the sire of Kermadec, Palatino, Happy Clapper and others. The good judges rate him one of the world’s finest.

Now to Triple Gold: He is a beauty! Was purchased by Peter Moody for 90K at the Melbourne Premier and raced by his wife and others, Moody has and is selling up his bloodstock and a friend, Mark Pilkington, did a lot of home work on this horse and purchased him for 70K recently. The horse has had 14 starts for 1 win and 6 placings. His last run was mid December 2015 in Adelaide, he pulled up lame in the off fore leg and went to the paddock .This horse is an out and out stayer, he settles well back near the tail in his races and has a long run and can sustain his finish to the line. We have included his maiden win at Bendigo and his 2 near misses in the city, at Caulfield he was a good thing beaten after almost falling at the 300m. the Flemington run was outstanding as he came from last at the turn to finish hard out wide beaten a nose.

Triple Gold ran 6th in the SA Derby behind the outstanding WA filly Delicacy, 2nd was Werther from NZ 4th Magicool. Magicool and Werther then ran 1-2 in the Group One in Queensland in June 2015. Werther was then sold to HK. Since going to HK he has won the Derby over there and last Sunday beat some of the world’s best in the QE Cup one of the country’s richest, won in a canter and now rates one of the best in the world. Where does that put Triple Gold?  Not sure, he was around 4L behind Werther and Magicool at 3 years. In the SA Derby Triple Gold reared in the gates and became cast, cleared to run he ran well but came back with blood from his mouth, he was cleared but it would not have helped him. He is rated a bench mark 65 horse, his last run in SA was a bench mark 82. Have a good look at him on the video, he is lean and every bit a stayer, stands over 16 hands, has a good alert eye and head, he reminds me so much of the good old NZ staying type, no fuss horse. He is 4 with very few miles on the clock, the breed get better with age and he is ideal for our syndicates. He has had 4 weeks pre-training and is in full work now. I love the staying horse as there are many options and the horse is Vobis qualified, I reckon we have done ok here with our 10% purchase. He had been given to Caulfield trainer Andrew Noblet, a young guy making his mark and he is well worth supporting, very obliging loves the syndicates and will welcome us anytime at his Caulfield stable.

As Big Kev would say” I’m excited”
