Friday Night Runners update

Just to keep you in the loop regarding Friday night at Moonee Valley. I know so many are hoping we have 3 runners on the night I just want to tell what the state of play is:
1. We will know whether we get a run by 12.00 Wednesday
2. Our horses are listed below in terms of ballot, remember MV run 12 in a field with 4 emergencies.
3. Human League rated 62 in the Bench Mark 70 race and no. 32 of 44 on the ballot
4. Mr.Sommerville rated 66 in Bench Mark 70 race and no. 23 of 55 on the ballot
5. Roxanne Of Sydney rated 66 in Bench Mark 84 race and no. 21 of 33 on the ballot, Roxy was also entered for Mr Sommerville’s race but will aim for the BM 84

We all like to plan ahead especially this time of the year but be mindful of the situation, in saying that the horses will be entered everywhere, as entry is free, to make sure they get their race.

Regards,
Bryan

Prior Post-Race Report

Prior: Good even run by this horse again yesterday, settled back as per normal, may have been a little too far back as the race was dominated from the front, winner sitting outside the leader last 1000m. Prior was 6th back on the rail and it was always going to be awkward for him to get off the rail, 5L from the leaders at the 600m and same on home turn, winner had got lead and skipped away, our horse was held up for a while rounding turn and lost ground, when clear race was over but he went home ok running 2nd beaten 3L. Gets clearer run from turn gets beaten 1.5L.
Very honest run gave the winner 2KG, now has had 1450m and 1700m so ready for 2000m and has a little trouble 2nd up as it was yesterday. Hoof abscess probably didn’t help despite it’s short hold up of work.
Good news he is on track and racing very well.

Prior & Mr Sommerville Updates

Mr Sommerville: Was to gallop this morning at Flemington, is entered for the meeting at Caulfield on Wednesday as well as Moonee Valley next Friday, rail will be out fair way Wednesday so field size will be limited, these restricted races benchmark 70 ratings are on in the city and are good prizemoney but of course you get huge entries as entry is free for horses. Wed is 1800m and Moonee Valley is 1600m, stable will study situation Monday at Caulfield acceptance time. Similar position with Roxy, entered for Caulfield over 1400m Wednesday and Moonee Valley next Friday night over 1600m.
Know this can be confusing for us as owners and trying to get time off etc. But that is the way it rolls with horses and trying to get a run.

Prior: Runs tomorrow at Geelong. Race 6 at 4.00pm horse 2 with Jamie Mott to ride with 59kg. There are 2 horses scratched nos 6-11 so Prior comes out of gate 4.
Strong win at Kyneton at his return, the 3rd horse from the race has since won at Sale last Wednesday, Unique Assassin.
Prior had the abcess of the hoof after working last Friday week but it had cleared up within 48 hours and that is why we opted to miss Sale last Wednesday, may have been a blessing as the rain came and the track finished up heavy.

He will be hard to beat tomorrow looking at the form, No.4 Wimba led and was grabbed near the line last run in a blanket finish 12. Address and 3. The Princeling are the other main chances.

His only run on the grass here at Geelong was in October 2012 and over the 1700m when he was slow out got back to last and ran up bums most of the race, not one of Tommy Sadler’s show reel rides!!!

J. Mott tomorrow, love him as a rider, patience, wins the race at the line, in no hurry. Reckon he can win tomorrow given the right run.
Good luck, Christmas function for me and cannot be there, booked 6 months ago but will sneak out and find a TAB.
Left 2 messages with the club secretary for our members to get in at Geelong, would not think too hard as will be late in the day.

Human League Update

Human League:
Trialled at Flemington this morning over 800m. Jamie Mott rode in a field of 6. The horse settled 3 rd and then drifted back to last of the 6 when 400m from home, the field was very tightly bunched, he stayed on the rail and ran 4th beaten less than 3L. Jamie Mott described the trial as great and ready to go to the races.
The horse is in perfect health and should be running at Moonee Valley over 1200m on Friday 13th December.

Prior Racing at Geelong 8th Dec

Interesting that we did not run Prior at Sale Wednesday due to the setback he had, the track at Sale finished up very heavy which may have been our downfall, the horse who won the race Unique Assassin finished well behind Prior at Kyneton when running 3rd.

Prior (NZ) (O’reilly (NZ)/Needled (NZ)):

This is the field for Prior on Sunday 8 December at Geelong in the Campolina Racing 0 – 64 Handicap over 1700 metres.

Roxanne of Sydney Update

Good Afternoon, Foxy worked over 1000m in 1.05 this morning. It was good building work and she appears to have come through her race in good order and I am hopeful that she can gain a start at Moonee Valley on Friday 13th December in a mares mile race. I think that the track surface will suit her there and it is probably the best option that we have at this point of getting a track with a bit of give in it. Hopefully she can go on from her strong win at Ballarat. Regards,
Cindy Alderson
