Roxanne of Sydney wins at Ballarat in emphatic style! (Video)

Roxanne Of Sydney was outstanding yesterday, the racing gods were shining down on us albeit on a rain sodden Ballarat racecourse, the track condition of heavy was the key but she still had to do it and do it she did.

Slow from the gate after getting quite fizzy in the yard earlier and banging into the rail in the enclosure, my heart was in my mouth especially after the calamity of Wednesday at Sale, right decision on the day though.

Of all the horses we have had through BMRC over a good few years including city wins I think yesterday’s win was the best we have had, she has the most stunning head and a great body as well as a pedigree for a stayer to die for, the rest is up to her.

This is the best stable for this mare as they know the breed so well and all their idiosyncrasies. 6 runs now and never further back than 5th. Next run should be Friday 13th at Moonee Valley in a 0-80 mares over 1600m. same night for Mr Sommerville, how exciting before Christmas!! We are checking with MV to see if there is a function room where we could all meet for a gathering of sorts. Will let you know.

Trainer’s Report:

Good Afternoon,

After a delayed start due to the firm track at Sale we were finally able to run Roxanne of Sydney at Ballarat on what was one of her more preferred surfaces which was a wet track and she responded with a fantastic win.
She stormed down the outside and got there in the nick of time, she began steadily and was probably a little bit slower than we would have liked and by that stage was shut out of the main part of the race. She ended up being forced back on the inside and was about second last and it looked a bit awkward approaching the corner as to what sort of position she could get to have clear running, however Mark angled her out and brought her to the extreme outside. It took her a little bit of time to pick up but once she did she really got motoring and as I said she swamped them and won in a pretty emphatic style which was a great return for Roxanne of Sydney much to the delight of the BM Racing Club.
It was a great result for the mare and she has shown her consistency to get the job done for you, she has had two wins, two seconds and a third and has really done us proud with her efforts and is a mare who gives her best every time she gets out there. Obviously the time has now come for her to be stepped up a little bit and we will be looking to run her in a mile mares race in town. Hopefully she comes through this race as well as we anticipate which she should do having run on a nice soft track and we will look to run her on the 13th December at Moonee Valley which should also provide a bit of cushioning for her. If anything changes between now and then I will let you know but that is my plan at this time.

Regards,
Cindy Alderson

Prior Wins at Kyneton 22/11/13 (Video)

Wow!! What a great couple of days for BMRC- Prior Friday and the brave Roxy yesterday.

Prior did a good job beating the opposition comfortably at Kyneton and the win will be very good for his confidence, he will now move out to a further distance of 1600m. I would think a few weeks from now.

Prior Wins at Kyneton – Audio Report

Well what a fantastic win by Prior today at Kyneton!

It shows that patience pays with this horse, and didn’t he come through with flying colours. Great ride by jockey Jamie Mott, and a great choice by the stables.

I spoke to Troy Corstens from Malua Racing:
