RoxanneGood Afternoon,
Roxanne of Sydney trialled today at Cranbourne in the official trials in Trial 10. She jumped really well and shared the lead and was pretty fresh in the trial and wanted to go quicker again. I was pretty happy with the way she stuck her neck out and kept on going in the trial even when under pressure and she fought on well to finish a close third. The winner won quite convincingly but it was tight between second, third and fourth. Our other horse, Her Diamond Rock ran fourth and she has won in the city so I thought it wasn’t a bad effort for a maiden and certainly suggested she is a horse that can win you some races. I think she will be further improved on wet ground and obviously the next time she has a trial her fitness levels will have improved as well. I am happy with the way she is going, she is still carrying quite a lot of condition so she is only going to keep on improving but I am more than happy with how she is coming to hand. She has a good attitude to her work with a strong desire to win which is quite common in most of the Zabeel’s. She is certainly a lot hotter than I remember her from her last time in work so perhaps that is being reflected in her improved performance on the training track. Hopefully she is not that far off a race and I think she will trial again in a fortnight and we will look to race her probably ten days from then.

Regards,

Cindy Alderson

Shock’s Law…

As you know some months back we returned the lease of Shock Value after he failed to hit form, he was proving costly, the horse returned to the breeder/owner Rob Gray who did indicate he would retire the horse and use him as a mentor for the youngsters at his stud, since then they have decided to return him to training and he has thrived back home in the West, he won a trial easily around 2 weeks ago and runs in Perth tomorrow night in race 8 at 6.50 no 2.
The paper work has been very slow over there and he is shown as trained by David Hayes and in our ownership and colours, this is not the case but out of our hands. We wish them well, Murphy’s law says….

Prior Post-Race Report

Prior: No luck yesterday at Sale, he missed away at the start and seemed to baulk losing a good 3L. This put the horse a good 4L further back than where we had planned to be in the run and he settled last, still last to the turn he hooked out wide and kept coming strongly to the line and was finishing best late. No doubt should have won.

Replay is here to look at, note around 200m from the line he shys at the whip of the jockey in front and seems reluctant to push past. Our jockey had no explanation for the problem at the start and it caught him by surprise.

That’s racing, horse is going very well and will probably run at Bendigo Friday fortnight 3/5/13 Showcase 0-62 2200m. Bloody long drive home I can tell you!!!
