Mr Sommerville – 4th at Colac

Mr Sommerville:
Ran 4th today at Colac, nice debut, began well settled back in the field given time to find his feet, followed the winner most of race, did get a long way back and travelled nicely into race coming to the turn, rider angled back to rail where winner came out wider, Mr Sommerville seemed a little reluctant to go through final gap around 200m from home, finally went through and his run finished about 80m off the line.
Very happy with the run as was Thomas Sadler the jockey, feel had he come out following winner he may have run 3rd. Jockey also said he was not entirely happy coming down fairly steep descent on the hill coming to the turn.
It is a good day out for a racehorse and a great learning curve 35 degrees and a 3 hour float trip there and back, he behaved very well at the stalls and in the parade.
1400m and 1600m are the likely distances we will now persue with Mr Sommerville for his next race.
Colin McKnight will have photos of the day for us and we will get them up here on the website shortly, so check back soon.

Mr Sommerville Pre-Race from Malua

Trial Report from Malua

Human League :
We were a touch disappointed with this guys trial yesterday. He was going good when he jumped and he lead them up. The problem was that at the 200m mark one headed him and he virtually gave up. Tom Sadler rode him and said that he feels he has the ability but not the confidence. For this reason we ar going to put a set of blinkers on him. Unfortunately we are forced to trial him again as he cannot race with them on without having trialled in them. He will trial in the blinkers next Friday and I will let you guys know the plan after the trial.

Mr Sommerville :
The Cranbourne trials set down for Monday were transferred to Traralgon. For this reason we decided to trial him yesterday. The 800m around the smallish track was not quite to his liking but he still performed nicely. He was only beaten 2 or so lengths and he came it through it well. He is now ready to kick off his career and we look like running him next Sunday at Colac. I will send you guys out more info in the next few days.

Kind Regards,
Troy Corstens
