Flemington Trials this Friday morning

We have Human League and Mr. Sommerville down for trials this Friday morning, several members have asked if they can attend and the answer is by all means.

The trials will be down the straight and normally begin after 7.00, I will have more specific times Thursday afternoon. Again a great experience to watch so more details later in week.

We are planning the stable visit to Malua for Sunday week 10/2

Shock Value Entries for Saturday

Shock Value:
Please find the entries for the Sale Quality this Sunday, the rating are alongside the names which indicates where we sit, there are several around the 90s+ so they will be higher weighted above us. The apprentice jockey Chad Schofield has been suspended so I have asked for Vlad Duric as our rider, he is in good form and is a senior rider and I think we are due for a change of jockey as I believe the young rider has been going far too quick on our horse.
Weights will be released next 24 hours and barriers later in the week.

Video Update from Flemington Jan 2013

Bryan talks to the trainers of Prior, Shock Value, Human League and Mr Sommerville as we take a look at the horses on a glorious morning at Flemington Racecourse as they go about their trackwork.

We are looking at a stable visit to Flemington Sunday 10th Feb if you want to jot the date down around 9.00am

We have a fabulous website and video production man in Tim Patterson who did the filming and all editing yesterday morning, at one stage all four horses were going about their work and Tim was going every which way but like a real pro got the job done, brilliant work Tim and we are very grateful.

Latest on Prussia With Love Dental Work

Just a quick one to let everyone know that Prussia With Love will have the procedure to take out her broken teeth tomorrow .Its a pretty straight forward procedure and she should only be under anaesthetic for a minimal time .

I will let you know if there are any drama at the vets tomorrow ,otherwise I will get a full post procedure report out in the coming days .

Update on our horses

Prussia With Love:

Note from Brad Spicer, our girl has got into some bother:

Well  not the best news this morning as Prussia with Love has had a paddock accident and was kicked in the mouth by another horse ,thus breaking a few teeth .The vets have had a look this morning and on xray she will need a couple of teeth removed .if They weren’t broken she could of had them done under local aesthetic ,but she will have to go under a general to have them removed  and cleaned up .

I will let everyone know ASAP when she will be heading in for the procedure

As always I try and stay positive through any disappointment and the good news is we will be back to race later on this year and she is still on track to resume work in 2-3 months time  .

I have asked Max our vet to do a thorough report and i will send that through within the next 24 hours

Human League :

We are testing out a new video hosting site that is password protected. Your password to view your video is RIPSTART and it is case sensitive. The site allows for better quality but more importantly you chose who can see your horse gallop. Once you enter your password please allow the video to fully download before watching it through. if you do not do this you may encounter buffering which is annoying.

Horse with no white except near hind leg is Human League

Shock Value Race Report

Shock Value:
Better on Saturday and he gets a reprieve from me. Using too much petrol at the start of races and needs to settle, beaten 2.75L on Saturday in very slick time of 57.01 for 1000m. Blinkers certainly switched him on.

He travelled very keenly in the lead with The Soldier who is one of the fastest horses around, so to hold him out of the lead they must have trucking very quickly. The race was set up for the closing hoses and the winner was sitting right behind us, we stayed on best of the on pace horses and beat The Soldier home by 3L.

The sectional times were very slick, this horse is getting fitter and I have copied an email from Rob Gray to me over the weekend, Rob bred the horse and races him with us, the comments from the previous trainer are pertinent here.  The horse now has a rating of 89 from Saturday and we may get to place him better. Still concerned he is going too quick for the apprentice rider at present.

This horse excels around tighter tracks eg Moonee Valley, Mornington would be ideal. He was set for Mornington Hareeba last year but injured himself the day before.

Email from Rob Gray:

Hi Bryan,
I think he is close to being back near his best.He has never ran much better than that over 1000m in Open class. He would have broke 57.5 for the 1000m yesterday, and that would have won him the Summer Scorcher here in Perth on New Years Day.
I dont think he is far away from where he was after the 8th to Bel Sprinter a year ago. From there we stepped up to 1200m and he really kicked and was very competitve, beating plenty of good horses.Im happy to go to either Sale or Mornington, and hopefully have him primed for the two night 1200m races at MV in March.
Spoke to Jimmy Taylor this morning, and he inferred he was a horse that took plenty of work to get him fit in the past.He cited that he was a great eater, and getting him prime took a little longer than others.Off an 8 week break,he may just have needed a couple of runs to get his base fitness back.
He would have ridden himself close to racing, and that being the case would have been in a great position to judge his fitness before running him.

Looking forward to his next couple of runs, and hope to see you at MV on March 1st.

Rob
