Prior Update 29/10

Prior: We have decided not to run this bloke on Wednesday at Bendigo. He has a cut in his mouth that we really need to get right before we go again! Hopefully it should only take a few days to heal. I will let you know as soon as we have picked out his next assignment.

PRIOR – Post Race Report GEELONG 24/10/12

Well Lady Luck did not smile yesterday. He was a good thing beaten and it was all lost predominately at the start when he was slow away.

Stewards report is to follow plus John Sadler’s comments and the likely hood of running at Bendigo next Wednesday 31st Bendigo Cup Day in a 2200m 0-68 race with a senior rider aboard.

Prior to the start of the meeting connections advised that Prior (NZ) would be ridden forward today from its outside barrier. Prior (NZ) was slow to begin and bumped with Purrplexed shortly after the start. Prior (NZ) subsequently settled in a worse than mid-field position.
Passing the 800m Gerontius shifted in and momentarily tightened Prior (NZ) which had a tendency to hang out. Approaching the 500m Gerontius shifted in and tightened Prior (NZ).
Prior (NZ) was held up rounding the home turn and until shifting out and obtaining clear running near the 200m. T Sadler reported that Prior (NZ) hung out during the event.

Prior runs tomorrow at Geelong, there are restricted tickets given due to Cup Day, please go to the main entrance and you may get the ticketing at the gate, failing that we should be able to get the mounting yard passes once we are on course. Remember there are several other syndicates involved with Prior and we have to share the owner’s privileges. Don’t forget its Cup Day so give yourself time to get there.

Race 2 at 1.00 pm horse No. 4 with Thomas Sadler claiming 1.5 kg so weight carried will be 58kg, drawn wide so the right option may be to push forward as this day each year throws up a bias to leaders and horse down on the rail, the 1700m start is deadly as they jump out and turn very quickly left handed and you can be trapped wide. Going back in the field may not tell us anything if the race is controlled up front.
Look forward to seeing you there,
